Nowadays, many Brazilians are bulletproofing their cars and homes as a means of protection.

According to André Zanetic sociologist within the Municipal Secretariat of Urban Security of São Paulo, this “trend” of bulletproofing is directly related to the feeling of insecurity. And, typically, the feeling of being threatened is only moderately related to reality. Even when statistics show a decrease in homicides, bulletproofing continues to increase.
